Hoagies Sandwich @ Taylor's University

Friday, April 1, 2011

If you're wondering, what Hoagies is its a sandwich restaurant. The concept is somewhat like Subway but with slight difference. They include spring onions, coriander and carrots as part of their vegetables. According to the owner, the outlet is a home grown business and it was actually a Vietnamese sandwich concept which includes lots of vegetables. The sandwich selections are basically the usual turkey slice, beef slice, roast beef slice, chicken slice and they also have creamy chicken, Portuguese chicken (chicken in hot Portuguese sauce)  and buttermilk chicken (chicken in buttermilk gravy). They also have spaghetti of several gravy selection.

the sandwich size is slightly bigger than subway - subway 6" hoagies's 7". I supposed with the size and all hoagies have better value and they most often than not have offers that'll give you better value.
anyway we love:

  • Creamy chicken - with lots and lots of spring onion and coriander leaves and lettuce...YUM!
  • Portuguese chicken  with everything
  • Buttermilk chicken with lots of spring onion and coriander, lettuce and carrots everything except pickles, olives, and jalapeno.
if you ever seen hoagies go have a try! its yummy and of value I LOVE IT ^_^

Yummmmm~

oh yea the price? its around RM9-10 depending on which fillings you like. But like i say they always have offers like buy 1 get 1 free or buy 1 and get the next 50% off. So its all right and i like eating there, saves me money (food @ taylors aren't that cheap) plus its healthy and filling.

 Seriously lots of veges...
 This was creamy chicken....
Taylor's Uni is so modern looking....
thats my sister ordering some food
and thats the owner...

Southern Crispy Fried Chicken My style!

Monday, February 28, 2011

I know that i haven't been uploading new entries lately...I've been busy...busy studying yea yea yea I'm back 'to school' Ive decided to further my studies in MBA. Last week was our first week of school and yesterday was our first exam...crazy huh? we had a FULL days and week then exam its really crazy cramping everything...yesterday's exam? i don't think that i do that well. They asked about grafts which there were a lot of it and naturally i got confused. I know the answers but just don't know for which hahaha does it make any sense? that is being confused all about.

I think if the exam was next week instead of yesterday i think i'd do better and i am confident that i can score it too but....*long sigh~* anyway what's done is done now have to focus on assignment...my hands are full with work and then i found out this morning that my daughter have bleeding gum and she was in pain. Brought her to the dentist (to be honest I'm not sure where to bring her dentist or GP?) then the dentist said its probably because she's about to get chicken pox. and i was like WHAT???

no kidding i don't have time for chicken pox baby sitting....but she said its just a possibility coz children often have bleeding gum no biggie. I am not sure if that is even any consolation for me...I'm just hoping that thats just it and not chicken pox or anything related to it.

Anyway....today I made crispy fried chicken southern style...well my style too heheeh here's the recipe

Chiken (cut, cleaned and pat dry)
1tsp paprika
1tsp blackpepper
1/2tsp cumin
3clove of garlic grated or mashed finely.
1c self rising flour
2 egg white

salt to taste

Flour mixture:
just mix everything together except for egg whites and garlic and milk.

rub chicken with a bit of salt and garlic careful with the salt coz in the flour mixture you're putting some salt too. set aside.

then pat the chicken dry for abit (coz at this point the chicken may be a bit watery)
then dip it into the flour mixture, dust off excess flour then dip it into egg white then dip it again into the flour mixture and coat it well. let it sit just for about 3-5minutes then deep fry them until golden...

Gourmet Class Update - Last Friday.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

I'm sorry guys for not updating more often. I've been busy with a lot of things family, myself (not feeling 100% here) and with my other blog (makeup blog) and the gourmet class for beginners...Anyway here's an update on the gourmet class. It was last Friday where we learned roasting a perfect chicken, and appetizer and a dessert. The menu was requested by my students (a mix and match from my original menu).

It was a fun and enlightening class where i think both the students and i learn something new. I for one learn that i need to pre-prepare some of the ingredients (like chopped veges or what not) coz we ran out of time in just a blink....but i like better if the students chop their veges themselves that way they'll learn better, perhaps longer class time? And i'm happy that the students (i had 3 students in a class last week) really learn a lot about cooking, they requested that i didn't expose them to public coz they're embarrassed for being totally clueless in cooking or baking. But this much i can tell ya after the class it sparked cooking and baking interest in them and i'm glad. And actually their Roast chicken, appetizer and even the banofee pie all turned out fabulous especially knowing that they can't cook or bake as they prefer dining out. One of the students is soon to be married, she told me that she wanna be to at least know something to cook when she got married and she wanted to make her best impression to her future mother in law and going to roast the chicken again for her future MIL.

So anyway here the food they made. Its Fabulous everything is cooked perfectly and i'm proud of my students. Perhaps in the future I can add in a bonus where we can have a chef guest to give some gourmet cooking theory tips and stuff, it'll be exciting!

Boxing Chicken

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

This is probably one of my many first 'Gourmet' attempt back when i was 12 hahahah yes 12 that young! =p
My mom used to make this cute little 'boxing gloves' all the time and we (me and my siblings) were always amazed by the it...a simple 12 year old kid mind wondered above and beyond on how the hell did this drummet be like this, perfectly rounded at a top just like a boxing glove...i used to snack on these alone (mom would do a lot of these boxing chicken then frozen it, much like nuggets and roti canai) wondering and imagining stuff about the drummets....ahhh the blissful mind of a 12 year old...

anyway since i was REALLY amazed and intrigued by it finally mom asked " you wanna know i make these?" and i was like YEAH! then she thought me how to box up the drummet.

this dish is so simple all you need to do is just box up the drummets then breaded them like you would with chicken shop SO EAZY... then you can dress it up with what ever gravy you fancy, which in this case (picture) we made a simple marinara gravy or you can just serve it as it is.

Its so crafty looking, kids loves this...if they don't something is wrong with their creativity side of the brain...or maybe you're doing it wrong = /

ok i didn't do a step by step because this is in one of my recipes in me Gourmet class so if you want to know in detail you'll have to come to my class, i can't tell you all here or my students will be angry with me heheheh~

but this much i can say, box the chicken up, then season it, then bread it then fry then serve....mmmm this is no fun isn't ? i know and i'm sorry at least this post can be a preview to those who wanted to learn cooking.

BUFFALO CHICKEN WITH DIPS/DRESSINGs

SALTED EGG CRAB/KETAM TELUR MASIN
